Friend

Over the past thirty years, Black Skimmers have experienced a 70% decline in Texas, according to the Texas Colonial Waterbirds Society in 2017. Protecting imperiled coastal birds like these is a huge, but important challenge. Threats to these birds’ survival include coastal development, off-road vehicles, beachgoers and pets, as well as disasters like hurricanes and oil spills.

Thankfully, ABC and our Gulf Coast partners are working to ensure that coastal birds and their habitats are conserved for future generations. Together we take a three-pronged approach to conserving coastal birds: on-the-ground protection at sensitive nesting sites, monitoring nesting success, and environmental outreach/stewardship.

We need your help: please consider making a gift today to ABC’s Race Against Time appeal. This spring, several ABC board members and other supporters have teamed up to provide $250,000 in 1:1 matching funds to help ABC advance our work to protect imperiled birds in Texas and throughout the western Hemisphere.

Black Skimmers and other declining birds are depending on us can we count on your support?

Thank you,

Kacy Ray
